Last week of OT!!

For the past 3 weeks I've put in 7-9 hours of overtime.  I am officially exhausted.  Monday (3 days ago) was my last scheduled day of overtime!  I'm SO glad to be done for a while!!

While I was working overtime on monday I met up with Manders for Lunch.  We went to Stadium 3 grill at the Doubletree.  I had a BLAST with manders, but the food was only so-so.

Yesterday, tuesday was chores day.  While I was doing chores around the house I heard a knock, knock, knock on my door.  Strange...anyone I know would have to ring the door buzzer to get into my complex.  I opened the door and it was Olive, one of the sweet neighbors from upstairs.  She said they had a vacancy in the condo association board and wanted to know if I would like to be a board member.  Sure, why not?  They meet every 2 months on a thursday evening, so I'll have to take a day off of work.  The elections won't be held until July, so I'm not officially on the board yet.  I'll let you know when it's official.

That's it.  Nothing big happened this weekend!  Next week is 4th of July!  Happy America day y'all!!

Dodged a bullet

This week has been a crazy week (that's my excuse for taking so long to get around to blogging).  Rich was sick on sunday so I spent the day prepping for the GRE's.  Monday was spent working a full day of overtime.

Tuesday I went to the doctor and we started a weight loss plan.  He wanted me to try weight watchers for 3 months.  Weight watchers is COMPLETELY different from what it use to be.

I'm given 47 points a day plus 49 points a week.  So I'm suppose to eat 47 points a day, and if I go over, I take it from the 49 points...orr, I can save that extra 49 points and have a splurge day and eat something that's expensive   Another big difference is that most fruit/veggies are 0 points.  This is to help you choose a healthy snack over a not so healthy snack.

So far it's been pretty easy, I have a lot of points so I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as it's in moderation.  I have been eating a lot more fruits/veggies when I'm hungry, so I can save my points for more delicious things later.

After going to the doctors, it was time to take my GRE's.  I had been studying hard for a full month.  I had taken multiple practice tests and felt pretty confident.  4.5 hours later I got my unofficial grades back and I didn't do great (or even good).  I got a 149 in Quantitative (math) and a 152 in Verbal (english).  I called home crying, and being the best dad ever, my dad calmed me down and made me feel SO much better.  Yup, this guy rules:

Also, while writing this blog, I found this picture and it made me feel better too:

Yesterday was CHAOS at work.  On thursday there had been rumors floating around about a reorganization (read layoffs).  I figured I was ok since the help desk was already short staffed.  Nope, untrue.

I was getting ready to come into work and I got a call. It started like this:  “Hi, Jeannette? This is So-and-so from HR and I have so-and-so with me on the phone too.”

My heart dropped. Oh shoot, I’m getting fired. Everything went unreal and then my heart started racing. “As you know we are doing a reorganization of your group…” At this point I can’t breathe. “…and when you get in today the floor may be a bit empty. I just wanted to call and let you know your job is safe, but there will be some people missing”

“Uh. Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate it” I mumbled out, still trying to remember how to breathe. I hung up and was shaking so bad. I’ve NEVER been fired from a job.

When I got into work, everyone was pretty sad.  My team lost 3 people, the guy who got me hired here was let go, and we lost 65 people in IT across the whole company.  It's going to be a good thing though.  The 3 people my team that were let go were dead weight, so now we can start rebuilding our help desk with only the best of the best!

Rich is still pretty sick so we probably won't be hanging out this weekend, plus I'm working Monday again (YAY OVERTIME!!).  See you all next week.!

Movies and Meat

I worked a bunch of Overtime this weekend, so I didn't get a whole lot done.  Saturday I received a meat tenderizer and 2 cutting boards in the mail (courtesy of my bank of america credit card rewards).  I used the meat tenderizer on the pot roast I made.  I didn't notice a major difference in texture/tenderness.

Monday, after a full day of overtime, I went to see The Purge:

The theater I saw it at (Vally View) was HUGE!!  I mean, IMAX screen quality, and the seats were uber comfy and extra wide!  The movie itself was great!!  Super thrilling and a bit slashery...just the way I like my movies!  While there were some minor plot holes, I still give this move a solid 2 thumbs up!

The next movie I went to see is called "This is the end":

If you like raunchy, slapstick, slightly horror movies, with GREAT cgi, than this is the movie for you.  Not only was it funny (again, in a raunchy sort of way), but it had a TON of famous people!  Here's a quick list:

James Franco
Jonah Hill
Seth Rogen
Jay Baruchel
Danny McBride
Craig Robinson
Michael Cera
Emma Watson
Mindy Kaling
David Krumholtz
Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Rihanna
Martin Starr
Paul Rudd
Channing Tatum
Kevin Hart
Aziz Ansari
Jason Segel

Yeah, it was all around GREAT!  I would recommend.  It's one of the best movies of the season, and by far the best movie I've seen this year.  Again, it's the kind of movie only certain people would like, it's definitely not for everyone!

The next 2 weeks are gonna be kinda lame blogs, as I'm putting in at least 1 day per week over time.  Keep your expectations low...Although next tuesday I'm taking the GRE's so make sure to keep me in your thoughts/prayers...I'm going to need it.

Cooking and TV

This weekend was uneventful.  Saturday, as I was leaving for work, I saw a goose just chillin in a puddle in the parking lot!

Lol.  Silly goose!  That's not where you belong!!  Saturday evening I missed a party at Mitch's because of work.  Sad faces all around!

Sunday, Rich came over and  brought stuff for hamburgers...AND cooked them!  He's spoiling me rotten!  We then watched the season premiere of Master Chef, which was pretty good.

Rich had to go home and work on some stuff, so I went to see "After Earth", the new Will Smith and Son movie.  It was good!  Not as good as Star Trek Into Darkness, but still mighty good.

Monday was a pretty productive day.  Did I mention that Rich gave me his old printer?  He also bought me a wireless thingy to go with it, so I can print wirelessly, but I need to get a power strip before I can use it.  er SQUEEE!!  This is my first printer ever!  I mean, I've used my parents printers, and work printers, but never owned one of my own.v
I used the printer to print out recipes.

After printing out recipies, I made low carb Chicken Cordon Bleu, although I made it with cheddar cheese instead of swiss because swiss cheese is uber yuck.  Here's the before:
and the after:

Next up for cooking was stuffed peppers.  I forgot how much I LOVE peppers (so much).  Again, a before pic:

and after:

Everything turned out really yummy (lol what a surprise)!  If you have any eazy peazy low carb recipes  send them my way.  I didn't take pics, but last week I threw some chicken breasts and a bottle of Italian dressing in a crock pot over night and had lots of yummy chicken the next morning (and for a week + after).

Tuesday was spent relaxing and watching TV.  2 things I saw (and promptly texted to Joel) were:

1:  Watching True Life I saw this tattoo.  Anyone else recognize it?

2.  While watching an older family guy I saw this.  WHAAA?  A desk without a computer?  Does not compute!

That's it!
