Dodged a bullet

This week has been a crazy week (that's my excuse for taking so long to get around to blogging).  Rich was sick on sunday so I spent the day prepping for the GRE's.  Monday was spent working a full day of overtime.

Tuesday I went to the doctor and we started a weight loss plan.  He wanted me to try weight watchers for 3 months.  Weight watchers is COMPLETELY different from what it use to be.

I'm given 47 points a day plus 49 points a week.  So I'm suppose to eat 47 points a day, and if I go over, I take it from the 49 points...orr, I can save that extra 49 points and have a splurge day and eat something that's expensive   Another big difference is that most fruit/veggies are 0 points.  This is to help you choose a healthy snack over a not so healthy snack.

So far it's been pretty easy, I have a lot of points so I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as it's in moderation.  I have been eating a lot more fruits/veggies when I'm hungry, so I can save my points for more delicious things later.

After going to the doctors, it was time to take my GRE's.  I had been studying hard for a full month.  I had taken multiple practice tests and felt pretty confident.  4.5 hours later I got my unofficial grades back and I didn't do great (or even good).  I got a 149 in Quantitative (math) and a 152 in Verbal (english).  I called home crying, and being the best dad ever, my dad calmed me down and made me feel SO much better.  Yup, this guy rules:

Also, while writing this blog, I found this picture and it made me feel better too:

Yesterday was CHAOS at work.  On thursday there had been rumors floating around about a reorganization (read layoffs).  I figured I was ok since the help desk was already short staffed.  Nope, untrue.

I was getting ready to come into work and I got a call. It started like this:  “Hi, Jeannette? This is So-and-so from HR and I have so-and-so with me on the phone too.”

My heart dropped. Oh shoot, I’m getting fired. Everything went unreal and then my heart started racing. “As you know we are doing a reorganization of your group…” At this point I can’t breathe. “…and when you get in today the floor may be a bit empty. I just wanted to call and let you know your job is safe, but there will be some people missing”

“Uh. Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate it” I mumbled out, still trying to remember how to breathe. I hung up and was shaking so bad. I’ve NEVER been fired from a job.

When I got into work, everyone was pretty sad.  My team lost 3 people, the guy who got me hired here was let go, and we lost 65 people in IT across the whole company.  It's going to be a good thing though.  The 3 people my team that were let go were dead weight, so now we can start rebuilding our help desk with only the best of the best!

Rich is still pretty sick so we probably won't be hanging out this weekend, plus I'm working Monday again (YAY OVERTIME!!).  See you all next week.!
