Cooking, Crafting, Quality Time with Friends

On friday night I went over to Mitch and Dom's for a game night.  When I got there, Mitch gave me the blanket she had been making me.  I somehow got KW to pose for the pic (none of my buddies usually want to pose for blog pics!)

I was so excited I took another pic.  KW caught me and said "Are you taking a selfie of yourself with the blanket?"  Yes.  Yes I was!

This is my new comfort blanket.  I've been cuddling under it after long days of schooling.  It's soft and warm and just all around WONDERFUL!

After getting my awesome new comfort blanket from my best best bestie ever, I went into Mitch/Dom's kitchen to get a drink.  While in there mitch said "Don't drink that, it's bleach"

What does it say about my character that my friends have to, very specifically, tell me not to drink bleach?  Ha!  Also, that evening I got a loaf of homemade bread that KW made.  It was AMAZING!

It was then my goal to see how many things I could make out of this delicious, delicious bread:

1.  A ham sandwich (please not there's a bit out of the top piece of bread because it smelled to good to wait to eat:

2.  An accompyment to Ham and bean soup

3.  Grilled cheese (this was, hands down, the best use of the bread):

4.  Garlic Bread to go with spaghetti (Sorry, no pic, I forgot)

The bread had wheat flour and honey and noticible hints of sunflower seeds.  It was all around wonderful..

My other cooking adventure for the week was making crockpot refried beans.  I had bought pinto beans for this specific reason over a month ago.  It was pretty easy, although, between soaking the beans overnight and then letting them cook it the crockpot, it was about 24 hours from start to finish!

I made up some rice with cheese, refried beans and corn.  I also made way too much, so I'll be eating this for a couple of days:

I tried making an invisible bookshelf this week.  I put my blood (literally), sweat and tears into this project:

In the end, though, I was too much of a chicken to drill a hole in the wall.  So, now I've got some sweet books ready to be screwed into the wall...maybe I'll bring them home for dad or Joel to use.

School has been really busy.  This is page 1 of 2 of what I had to get done this week.  It's thursday and I'm done page 1, and starting on page 2 soon.  Yay.

I'll end this blog with a blast from the past.  On my first Christmas, my dad made me a Jaida doll.  They named the doll Jaida, so they wouldn't forget how much they loved that name (which eventually became my little sisters name).  You can tell my dad put a lot of time and love into it, although, the clawed hands freak me out a bit as an adult.  Enjoy:
