Random Blog about Dating again

I've been dating for a good 10 years now.  It's always been a struggle:

"Does he like me?"
"If I say the wrong thing will he get mad at me?"
"Am I doing too much for him?
"Am I doing too little?"

Dating was always fraught with constant anxiety and worry.  I mean, it was fun at times.  There were happy times, but more often than not I felt like I was pushing a boulder up a hill that was seemingly endless...until Rich.

When I met Rich, everything that was hard and frustrating and uncomfortable about dating disappeared.  I tell him all the time that he is me in boy form.  We click.  I feel like we are 2 peas in a pod.  From the instant I met we just worked!

With past boyfriends I had such bad jealousy issues.  I think it comes from secretly being insecure about myself (although most of the time I don't feel insecure??).  With Rich that has never been an issue.  He makes me feel like I'm the only girl in the world for him.

Rich looks at me sometimes (aww shucks, most of the time) like I'm the most beautiful girl he's ever seen.  And the reverse is true.  Sure, I've dated guys with 6-pack abs and perfect eyesight, but, to me they're not half as handsome as Rich.  There's something about him that is irresistible to me.  I cannot get enough of him.  He is the most handsome guy I've ever dated.  From his giant man hands (seriously, almost twice my size!) to his buzzed haircut, to the way he talks and walks and laughs.  I love everything about him!

Oh, not only is he beyond sexy, but he has an AH-MAHZING family!  I LOVE his Mom and sister and dad and brother-in-law.  The tell the funniest stories and are SO easy to get along with!  You can tell by his outgoing, funny personality that he was raised by good people!

He also treats me like a princess.  With some of my past boyfriends, I paid for everything.  For dinners, for trips, for beer.  You name it, I paid for it.  I contributed so much both financially and emotionally and got so little in return.  Rich, is the opposite of this.  He buys me dinners, and is willing to go to plays with me.  He puts in the time to make me feel special and loved.  I don't need a lot.  I can buy stuff if I need it, but it's nice to get flowers and chocolates once in a while, just because they love you...OH!  That was something on my bucket list "get flowers for no reason"!  Even when he's not trying Rich helps me beyond measure.

Uggh, this probably sounds a bit gloaty or, rambley...but I just wanted to take a minute to say how happy I am for the first time in my life.  Dating is finally easy!  Who would have thought it could be so simple?  Whether I'm with Rich for 50 years or 5 more minutes, I will count myself thankful for every second we spend together.

Who would have thought I'd have to move to Ohio to find my soul mate?!

Brunch and Bugs

This weekend only 2 major things happened, so it's going to be a quick and dirty blog post.

Sunday Rich and I met up with his family at the 100th bomb group restaurant for a brunch buffet.  We were there to celebrate Rich's Mom and Dad's Birthday's and Anniversary.  Rich's sister and brother-in-law were there too!

It was AH-MAHZING!  The buffet had fruit and desserts and breakfast foods (eggs/sausage/bacon) and a chef who makes you omlets and waffles and SO MUCH DELISH!!  Not only was the food super good, but, once again, I found myself laughing until my sides and face hurt.  I am sure lucky to date a guy who was born into a family with such a great sense of humor!!

The only other thing that happened this weekend was I saw this guy (who was HUGE)

Good thing I'm not scared of spiders, cuz I squished him good.  So that's it.  Really fun Sunday, uneventful (sans spider) rest of the weekend.

Guess Who's a Sams Club Member?!

I had a really fun weekend, which was well deserved after last weekends sadness.  On Sunday, Rich and I went to Sams club where he got us both memberships!

After that we went shopping and he bought me some groceries.  What a good guy, right?!  We hit the produce section first.  Oranges have been my recent addiction (everything from navel to cuties/clementines).  I saw a weird fruit.  ARGH!  I can't remember what it's called.  It had something like "champagne" in the name.  If you know what it is, let me know, it's driving me crazy!!

Sam's Club had EVERYTHING.  I feel like it would be better used by those with families.  Some of the stuff I couldn't even imagine to use in a life time by myself.  They even had peanut butter in a can, not jar!!

After we got back to my place and put away the food, I made hamburgers and vegetables for dinner for us.  The vegetables were Normandy Blend frozen veggies from Sam's club (which contain Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots and Yellow Squash) and you'll notice a giant new thing of BBQ sauce (which is one of Rich's favorite things ever):

We just hung out for a bit after that then Rich headed home.  We always have so much fun, even if it's just grocery shopping and homemade dinner!

Monday was uneventful.  I went to see OZ, the Great and Powerful.  It was meh.  I only paid 4.50 to see it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.  It was pretty, but the story was lacking.  There was SO much you could do with the premise of the movie, but they didn't do anything great.

After the movie I dropped by Sam's Club to get gas.  Gas has been running from 3.70 to 3.80, but now that I'm a Sam's club member (THANK YOU RICH!!) I can get gas for 3.53!!!

Tuesday was my cooking day.  Instead of cooking 1 big thing I made a bunch of little things.  I made a TON of mashed potatoes for Michelle.  She had made me an awesome French Silk Pie (which was delish by the way), and I had a TON of left over potatoes, so I made a baby's worth of potatoes.  Yeah, like, 4 pounds. or so:

While I was working on that I put some chicken breasts (which, once again, awesome boyfriend Rich had bought me at Sam's Club), in some water flavored with taco seasoning in a crock pot and let it simmer for 6-8 hours.  My house still smells like tacos!

Lastly, I was on to my main meal of the week, French Onion Soup.  It was yummy and super easy.  You start out by cutting up 2 medium onions:

Then cooking them in a pot with some butter for about 20 minutes:

Throw in some flour and cook for another couple of minutes:

Add some beef broth and simmer for 20 minutes.  And you're done!

You can add cheese or bread/croutons if you want.  Without cheese/croutons, a cup of soup is only 65 calories!  I just put a little pepperjack cheese on top of mine (total calories 130):

Next Sunday I'm meeting up with Rich's family again to celebrate their parents anniversary/birthdays.  We're going to the Bomber Group, which, according to Rich is an amazingly delish buffet! I'm looking forward to laughs and fun times next week, although it's going to be hard to top the fun time I had with Rich this weekend.

Lasagna and sadness

The weekend started off pretty awesome.  I got an Easter package from dad in the mail!!

Inside was a plethura of awesome.  The first awesome thing was bubble wrap.  Who doesn't love bubble wrap?!

The bubble wrap was protecting some homemade chocolates from Dad!!

It took all of my willpower to save them and share them with Rich on Sunday.  Well, I wasn't perfect, I had a couple before sharing.  I regret nothing, they were sooooo good!

Sunday I went over and made lasagna for Rich.

Rich's sister, Samantha, gave me the family recipe, which used sausage instead of hamburger.  It was surprisingly delicious as shown by the smile on Rich's face:

Dessert was homemade Lemon Squares, which looked quite beat, but tasted quite yum:

and Easter candy made by Dad:

The candies were so good.  I mean, REALLY good.  My favorite was the coconut filled ones, while Rich liked the peanut butter ones.  Honestly though , they were all super delish!

While we were eating at Rich's dining room table, I noticed this plug:

Laughingly I asked, why all the extra plugs if you only need 2?!  Rich says he thinks there was a 3rd plug at some point.  Still, I thought it was kinda funny.

Monday was uneventful.

Tuesday afternoon I noticed that my phone, which had been left in the bedroom most of the day, had a voicemail from my boss and a text from a coworker.  I called my boss back to see what he needed.  He was calling to tell me MJ, the coworker who sits in front of me had died.
I was so sad.  I am so sad.  MJ was one of my BEST friends at work.  We would giggle the night away talking about how hunky Nathan Fillion is or what was happening on Castle.  It's so weird to get info about her funeral when we had just been talking a week or 2 ago.

It was so sudden.  Last tuesday MJ came to work, but got sick and threw up in her trash can so she went home.  She called off the rest of the week.  Monday she didn't call out.  This is SO unlike MJ, so our boss called her multiple times before getting her address from HR and having emergency services go to her house where they found she had passed away from "reasons unknown"

So sad.  I'm really going to miss MJ.  She was such a bright shining star at the help desk.  The world is less sunny without her.  Rest in peace MJ.  You are missed

Preeeeety epic weekend.

My weekend started with getting up early and heading off to a girls breakfast at Ambers house.   Amber made the MOST DELICOUS pumpkin pancakes and scrambled eggs!  Leeann brought watermellon and I made a strawberry compote.

Amber looked like the cutest serial killer while cutting up the watermellon!

Ambers new boyfriend was there, so, being the pictured obsessed gal that I am, I had to get some pics of the happy couple:

It was really fun!  There was lots of giggling and girl talk.  Over all it was a 10 out of 10 kinda morning!

Right after I got done breakfast and girl gabbing I headed over to Rich's for a little cuddle time before we went out for lunch/dinner.  When I got to Rich's I found a surprise waiting for me!!  He bought me flowers, chocolates and even made me cookies!!  I was so excited, I looked slightly crazed:

Here's a cuter pic of the awesomeness that Rich got me:

After I stopped jumping up and down and giggling like an idiot, we met up with Mitch, Dom, and KW for dinner at BD's Mongolian grill.  I was so hungry and excited for dinner I forgot to take pics!  Sadness.

We only stayed an hour because the meter was running (quite literally).  It was fun to talk and laugh with friends I hadn't seen in a bit.  Rich paid for dinner because he's a gentleman.  I really don't deserve such a good guy!  Over all it was another solid 10 out of 10 afternoon.

Monday was spent being unproductive.

Tuesday I was very productive!  I made Chicken Tortillia Soup that my sister-in-law Rachel had recommended.  It was super easy.  Just brown some onions and green peppers in oil and butter, then throw in seasoning and corn tortillias.  Next put in some chicken stock and simmer for 20 minutes:

You blend it all together (in a blender), and throw in some chicken.  It made a CRAZY amount of soup:

Add a dollop of sour cream and whammo!  Meal completed:

I had so much I decided to bring some over to Rich, who is always down for a free meal.  He liked it too!

While I was there we decided on Lasagna for next sundays meal.  He had a huge jar of prego that he was willing to sacrifice for the lasagna.  "Pose with the sauce so I have a pic for my blog", I said.  And he did!  So many cute pics it was hard to pick just one for the blog!!

This is one of my favorites!  It looks like he's dancing.  Yup, I have the coolest Boyfriend evar!!

Next week is going to be a relaxing week.  The only think I have planned is to make lasagna...Maybe a fun dessert.  If anyone has any yummy dessert recipes, send them my way!
